Our feed grids are made from high-quality plastic. The material is food-safe, shatterproof, and splinter-proof.
The plastic was deliberately chosen to be softer than the horses' tooth enamel, making it particularly gentle on teeth and gums.

The feed grids are particularly suitable for horses with respiratory diseases, as rooting with their noses in the hay is only restricted, thereby reducing dust intake.

Choosing the correct hole size is crucial for the product's functionality. It should be selected to match the hay structure as well as the individual feeding behavior of the horse.
We recommend starting with larger holes and only reducing the size after an acclimatization phase.

Timed Large Bale Feeder

The intelligent solution for horse-friendly hay feeding

The timed large bale feeder from Heufresser is the ideal solution for anyone who wants to manage their feeding efficiently, reliably and in a horse-friendly manner. It is particularly suitable for group housing of several horses and ensures a controlled, regular hay supply – without daily effort.

Natural feeding – stress-free and healthy

Horses are naturally grazers and require regular access to roughage throughout the day. The timed large bale feeder, with its individually programmable control, enables reliable feeding without long feeding breaks.

Up to eight opening and eight closing times can be programmed daily. This allows natural feeding intervals to be replicated, feeding stress to be reduced, and the risk of feeding-related illnesses to be minimized. At the same time, it creates more calm in the herd and significantly relieves the horse owner in daily stable management.

Feeding spaces and drive

Depending on the version, the timed large bale feeder has three or four timed feeding sides. All sides are controlled simultaneously and each has its own motor. This design ensures reliable and long-lasting operation.

The large bale feeder is available in different power variants:

This allows the system to be flexibly adapted to almost any location.

High-quality materials and robust construction

Every timed large bale feeder is carefully handcrafted in Germany. The construction consists of a stable KVH frame and high-quality larch wood and screen printing elements.

The exterior cladding can be individually made from screen printing plates or larch wood. The floor is made of robust screen printing material and allows for easy cleaning by sweeping or washing out.

Timed walls with safety concept

The timed walls consist of sturdy screen printing plates and are moved upwards by means of motors. When open, the walls disappear completely within the lower barrier and allow the horses free access to the hay.

When closed, the closing height is 170 cm. The walls intentionally do not close all the way to the roof. This serves as an important safety aspect and prevents the horses from getting trapped. The door side closes approx. 6cm lower due to the door frame. 

Individual barrier height and roof variants

The height of the lower barriers can be individually selected:

In addition, various roof variants are available:

Delivery and assembly

The timed large bale feeder is delivered by freight forwarder. The recipient must provide appropriate facilities for unloading on site. We recommend a vehicle with a fork length of at least 120 cm and a lifting capacity of at least 1.5 tons.

Shipping costs are calculated individually based on the delivery address. We would be happy to provide you with a non-binding offer.

The large bale feeder is largely pre-assembled upon delivery. Only the roof battens and the trapezoidal sheet metal need to be assembled on site. Detailed assembly instructions are included.

Upon request, we can carry out roof assembly on site for an additional charge.

Hay net frame made to your desired dimensions, including net cut.

The dimensions you provide will be the pipe frame dimensions. This means that at least 3cm must be subtracted from the long side and 3cm from the short side. Firstly, the net frame should have some play, and secondly, the net itself must also be accounted for.

Our hay net frames are made from high-quality materials. The frame can be made of either aluminum or stainless steel.

The stainless steel version can be opened by loosening the stainless steel connectors, allowing the hay net to be easily replaced. We especially recommend this for horses with respiratory diseases, as the hay nets can be washed regularly.
